Public apology and plea for help!!

Did you see Dancing with the Stars this week? They danced to songs that were considered "guilty pleasures" which I thought was pretty funny. And got me to thinking about my newest guilty pleasure-only mine came in book form... and thought that I should probably start off this post with a public apology first.... lol

So, to all my friends who told me these books were amazing, and not really about vampires but more of a love story.... I am sorry that I thought you were crazy!  And to my friends who stood waiting in line for the midnight showing of the corresponding movie, I'm sorry that I seriously thought you had lost your mind!!! And to my friends who pretty much threw a celebration when those movies came out on video... I am soooo sorry I didn't join in on your fun!!!

I watched my first Twilight movie a month or two ago strictly under the pretense of seeing what it was about because I found out my step son liked the movie. We are hoping he gets to come visit and I since we aren't too far from the town of Forks, WA, I thought I really should give the movie a shot... and then I couldn't help but get the second book at the library... you know, just to see if the book really was better than the movie (as they usually are!). To make a long story short, I just finished the last page of the last book in the saga and I feel as if I could cry!! I don't want it to be over and I don't know what to do now!! lol How do you come down from the high of such a great book?!!?

So, we get to the plea part of this post.... for those of you who read the books, or even just watched the movies (although the movies don't even touch the awesomeness of the books!) what did you do when you finished the books and had to face a day without reading something that good? Did you start back at book one and read them all again? Did you start in on another series? DO tell please!! lol

I almost didn't even want to admit to this new love of mine. I faught it for so long, not wanting anything to do with Twilight, as I am so NOT into vampires and that sort of thing. But now I find that my friends were right, it wasn't your typical vampire book and really was just an amazing love story (with out the blushing parts). I can't remember the last time I was so hooked on a book and now I just feel sad that it's over. My guilty pleasure of getting to read a few pages of somethign other than a kids book, or if I was lucky a whole chapter is over and now I'm looking for something to takes it's place....

And of course I am already counting down to the movie coming out in November and already have ideas of how I can make it work to have a sitter! lol I understand the obsession with these books and hope my friends can forgive the eye rolls I made behind their backs! :) I will be sending out a number post cards from our trip to Forks this summer!: )

I am curious though... what team are you on? :) I'm still undecided....

  1. oh. team edward. all. the. way. though, i always imagined edward looked like jonathan rhys meyers all sexy & intense in "the tudors" & nothing like scrawny, what's his name... granted. i imagined bella looked so very much like me. ha!

seriously. loved the books. read them a few years ago. felt like i had broken up with a boyfriend when it was over. was very sad. went & saw the first movie. laughed at the cheeziness of it. haven't watched another movie since. have you read her sci-fi book "the host." it was good. very twiligh-esqe. same kind of feel - but aliens instead of vampires. :)

  4. I don't have a team, so I think it's okay not to choose. lol. I did enjoy the books and while the first movie was def "made for TV" quality, the others were a little better due to a larger budget of course. I'll see the last movie just because. But I still stand on my opinion that the actors can't act and casting did a terrible job. :)
And it's hard to find a good book these days. lol. I love to read but find it almost impossible to find something to hold my interest these days. So I'm no help.

  5. Hahahahah! I tried to tell you! Now you are too far away to come to our Twilight DVD release parties :o( Seriously though, I have yet to find a book that held me captive like Twilight. Though there is a novella call The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner (the girl vampire that was killed in Eclipse) It's short but good. I need to reread Breaking Dawn before it comes out in November!

  6. Wlcome to the TwilightZome:) I began by watching a movie too...to see if it was ok for my then 10 yr old to watch....next thing we have all the books and everyone in the house, including my husband is in love with it!
I was that goth girl but there was nothing that good when i was a teen. But for Twilight i think the appeal really is forbiden love and undying love:)What girl/woman would not fall in love with that? I am Team Edward all the way! He is the personification of those things is he not!
I read all the books in 8 days and have read them over and over. I have watched the movies, devoured the music, crated my own playlists LOL. There are heaps of FB pages that do quizzes and contests too. Ok Im a little obsessed!
All I can say is enjoy it, there are heaps of adults out there who do:)

  7. Right there with ya! Love reading, but have always laughed at the vampire/Twilght lovers. Until a few months ago. Up late one night while Cal was gone and caught the middle of the first one. Stayed up way past bedtime to watch the second one, and just bought the third book and read it in a day. There were parts that almost made me laugh, but I still couldn't put it down! LOL Going to get the 4th one for my trip to Seward this weekend. Funny...we got the first two books during our drive up here for Thomas. It was the only thing that saved his sanity, AND the one and only time he's ever enjoyed reading. He only enjoyed it though because he was stuck in the truck. We got here when he was halfway through New Moon and he never picked it up again. How does he do that??? Anyway, now I can dig them out and go back to read the first two and get the "better" story. :-)

  8. I loved the books and, like you, was slightly uncomfortable about it. When I finally finished reading the entire saga, I started again. I know. I'm a sad, hopeless romantic with a mystical soul. Or something. Now I DO like vampires and woo woo books, so I'm thinking of starting on the True Blood books because I am totally addicted to the series.

And team Jacob for the most part. The native american boys just do it for me and always have. I would prefer it if Jacob was a wee bit older though...he's such jailbait. I like Edward for his intellect and his spirit but Jacob is hot blooded and passionate and think how cute the babies would be! LOL!
