How can people be so cruel

As I sat here watching this, with tears running down my face, I just can't believe people can be so cruel. Please send prayers out to these little creatures and pray that justice is done!

Living in the land of make believe

I was doing so good at getting organized and staying on track when we thought that quick acting orders north were in our future. But now, I just can't seem to get bac kon course when the goal isn't something we can see...

Things are so up in th air and my heart and mind are so tired of getting my hopes up and confused on whats the best thing to do! And when it comes down to it, the military will do what it darn well pleases!

For this evening, I am going to listen to the wind blowing outside and pretend it's a blustery fall day, not the 95 degrees it surely is. I'll pretend the air is cooled by Mother Nature and not the ever running AC and I'll continue on with my knitting education in hopes that someday soon I'll have a need for warm hats and wool sweaters...I have a lot to learn...

Back to the drawing board!

Well, we thought we had found our way to get back home to Alaska....Jason applied back in May and we've been driving ourselves crazy thinking "what if" for months now. We finally got the final answer yesterday. We didn't get it. Part of me was in shock and part of me just wanted to mope and cry. We just wanted this so much! We miss Alaska more than words can express an we miss our church family even more. I just have to believe that there is something so much greater out there waiting for us and that we just have to be patient and do this on God's time, not ours....That said, we went out to drowned our sorrows in Chinese food and fell asleep watching tv.
The military life is seldom easy and never cut and dry! Now we have so many options still to consider but with no direct path to get there! lol We'll just have to keep pluggin' away and praying constantly that God makes our path clear...even if it's not in a northern direction like we are hoping. Faith is easy when things are going right but we have to keep the faith when the days are bleak too. We're still keeping our faith that He knows best!

Let's color

Isn't it funny how a change in weather can change your mood faster than anything else? We have been stuck in the house for what seems like forever due to insane heat and I know that it's really only been probably a week or so but our moods are all getting terrible being cooped up. I swear this cabin fever is worse than when we were stuck indoors with -18 degrees in Alaska! (Ah, those were the days) I have been sick for a bit now too so I'm sure that hasn't been helping my mood but I think I am finally starting to kick this cold too. I've always thought it was crazy to think of catching a cold when the weather is so hot! How does that happen? I think it's the AC 24/7 that sends my head into shock...Is it crazy that I'm praying for fall already when it's only June!? lol
From the time I was little, I can always remember being my most creative on days that it rained...I always had this uncontrolable need to color. Crazy huh? Now that I am an adult, things haven't really changed. I still have the urge to color only now I am redirecting my thoughts to sewing and crafting. Today I think I am going to actually get a few scrapbooking pages done!
I know people think I'm a bit crazy but since we moved here I have found the day-to-day heat and clear blue skies are really rather depressing. I think it goes back to the rythm of our days and life in general. When all you see is bright blue skies and intense heat is all you feel outside, there is really no rythm...no chance to "breath" in and out...it's all one extreme after another. I know some would think that is how Alaska would be too but it's really not. Things are slower in some way and from morning to afternoon things could change so much! It was always a joke that if you don't like the weather in Alaska, just wait a minute and that really is true. It took awhile to get used to having to take a jacket with you even on the warmest days but after a bit it became second nature, just one more thing about life in the extreme north. Maybe that's why we loved it so....Before I make myself sad thinking of what could have been (I'll save that for another day) let just enjoy the grey skies and rain....Let's color...

Solstice ball!

The girls are so excited about the Solstice Ball tonight! They decided to put Christmas lights out for the fairies to have "stars" and also some water and sunflower seeds to snack on...We'll see what happens when we wake up in the morning. We hope the party is a success!

Fairies among us!

"We thought you'd never clean up your mess! We came last night but there was no room around all the toys! And then, you were making so much noise instead of napping so we had to wait to sneak in again! The ball is tomorrow night! Why can't we see the stars at night? We miss the lights!

Love,

Sunny

P.S. Thanks for the snacks! Building is hard work!

Janie has been just bubbling over about this pretzel and how cool it was that the fairies took all those little bites out of it! She came up with the idea of putting up Christmas lights for their party so the fairies will think they are stars...so cute! The girls are so loving the new items the fairies left...a grill, ladders etc. I love seeing them and their imaginations pouring out!
What will those fairies do next?
